The milkweed plant is now well-known for its importance to Monarch butterflies. But it was not long ago that it was known as a pest plant and noxious weed. We will take a detailed look at this actually beautiful wildflower in our area, and consider recent efforts to encourage its introduction and expansion in Ontario as a grassland prairie meadow plant species.
